# Get Started

> Give anything, grant anywhere using your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

## One-Time Donations

Not ready to open a fund? No problem! Endaoment makes it easy to make a **one-time donation** directly to any nonprofit—no DAF required.

### How It Works

1. **Search** for the organization you want to support
2. Click **"Donate Now"** on the organization's page
3. Complete the donation flow to donate any asset type

That's it! You'll go through a simple, streamlined donation experience.

<Note>You have the option to donate **anonymously**, but keep in mind that anonymous donors will not receive a tax receipt.</Note>

### Why Consider Opening a DAF Instead?

While one-time donations are simple and convenient, opening a Donor-Advised Fund offers additional benefits:

| Benefit | Description |
| ------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Charitable Checking Account** | Think of your DAF as a dedicated account for all your giving—organized and ready when you are |
| **Immediate Tax Receipt, Flexible Giving** | Get your tax deduction now, then recommend grants to your favorite causes over time |
| **Grow Your Funds** | Invest your charitable dollars in diversified portfolios while you decide where to give |
| **Strategic Philanthropy** | Build a thoughtful, long-term strategy for your charitable giving |

Next, [fund your Donor-Advised Fund with a donation of any asset](/donors/getting-started/donating-to-a-fund). All gifts are an irrevocable donation to Endaoment and cannot be withdrawn or used for any other purpose besides grantmaking to qualified 501(c)(3) charities.

Once you have a DAF set up, you can [make grant recommendations](/donors/getting-started/recommending-grants) to nonprofits of your choosing or invest assets in [Portfolios](https://docs.endaoment.org/donors/getting-started/managing-portfolio-positions).
