Donating to a Fund
Fund your Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
What’s a Donation?
A donation is an irrevocable gift made to Endaoment. We take your contribution, liquidate it, and deposit the proceeds in your Donor-Advised Fund. Once the exchange is completed and funds are deposited, we email you a tax-deductible receipt detailing your gift.
Endaoment is the only completely onchain Donor-Advised Fund provider! Operating on the Ethereum blockchain allows for quick actions, all of which are publicly verifiable using a blockchain explorer like Etherscan, even if you interact with Endaoment without the use of a cryptocurrency wallet!
Step 1. Navigate to a Fund
Having set up your DAF, navigate to Endaoment’s site, connect, and then select the Fund you created in the Opening a Fund section. If you’re unsure where to locate your fund, click on your wallet address in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and click Dashboard
, which shows a listing of all managed funds.
Step 2. Make a Donation
On the Fund page, click Donate Now
.
You’ll now have the opportunity to select the type of gift you’d like to donate and receive an estimate of the final trade output value. Follow the prompts, and confirm the donation amount.
If you are donating an ERC-20 asset, there will be an additional transaction to confirm as you first need to grant access to those tokens before you can complete the donation. This step is not required when donating Ethereum.
After confirming, click on the Etherscan link to view the transaction, or close the modal and return at your leisure. Everything is happening on the backend, and you’ll be notified via email when the process is complete.
Once the processes are completed, you’ll see a completed pop-up and the fund’s balance will update accordingly. Processing donations may take varying amounts of time depending on the asset and the transferring entity. For any questions, feel free to reach out.
While most DAFs operate on a model of annual fees amounting to 5%+ per year, Endaoment’s fee structure is based on one time donation and grant fees, incentivizing throughput and ensuring a greater portion of funds reaches the organizations and communities in need.
Congratulations on funding your DAF - now it’s time to recommend some grants.
